Dental Extraction FAQs

Got a question? We’re here to help.

  • Do my wisdom teeth need to be removed?

Your wisdom teeth may need to be removed if the teeth are impacted (see above photo), causing pain or infections, or beginning to crowd your other teeth and affecting your bite. If you have any questions about your wisdom teeth, email Dr. Custer or schedule a consultation appointment.

  • Will I need stitches after I get an extraction?

For simple tooth extractions, many patients will not need stitches.

  • What are some ways I can replace my missing tooth?

It is recommended that you replace the tooth so that your other teeth do not begin to shift. This shift can cause an abnormal bite which will result in other problems. The three different options for replacing teeth are Implants, Bridges, or Partials.

  • Can I drive after an extraction?

Yes, unless you take any type of pre-medication that would cause drowsiness. If you have any questions, ask Dr. Custer.
