At Dennis J. Custer DDS, we exclusively offer state-of-the-art composite fillings, ensuring a perfect blend with the natural color of your teeth. Our focus is on providing fillings that not only restore the functionality of your teeth but also maintain the esthetics of your smile. We are dedicated to delivering you a comfortable and effective treatment experience..

Why you might get a tooth filling

Cavity

The primary reason for a filling is to treat cavities caused by tooth decay, which erodes the tooth structure, creating a need for restoration.

Broken Teeth

Teeth that are cracked or broken, whether from trauma or biting on hard objects, may require fillings to repair them.

Worn Teeth

Natural wear from activities like teeth grinding (bruxism), or an improper bite, can lead to the need for fillings to restore teeth to their proper shape and function.

Replace Metal Filling

Many patients choose to replace their old metal (amalgam) fillings with composite ones for aesthetic reasons, or if the metal fillings are failing due to age, wear, or decay around the edges.

I was in very bad pain and up all night with no rest and [Dr. Custer] was able to rearrange the schedule and get me in. Very good experience. The staff are extremely friendly. Would highly recommend this dentist to anyone. Thank you Dr. Custer and staff for all you did. This is now my new dentist.

Dental Fillings FAQs

Got a question? We’re here to help.

  • How do I know if I need a filling?

You should request an appointment or call us at (419) 756-0321 if you are noticing any of the following: a toothache, a dark spot on a tooth, a cracked tooth, a broken or loose filling, or wear on any of your teeth.

  • What is a silver filling?

Silver fillings are restorations that are made of a combination of metals. Because of the superior strength of bonded white fillings, Dr. Custer does not place silver fillings. If a silver filling needs replaced, a white filling will be used.

  • How long does it take for my filling to fully harden?

Dr. Custer uses a curing light that fully hardens the composite in seconds, but there are things that you will want to avoid after a filling (see below).

  • What should I avoid after I get a filling?

    1. Eating while you are still numb

    2. Eating hard or sticky foods (with large fillings)

    3. Grinding your teeth
